What is Reiki?

Reiki is a stress reduction and relaxation technique that promotes deep healing and overall well being. The technique was developed in Japan and is based on the idea that all living things have a life force energy flowing through them. 

Reiki is a Japanese word that comes from two words- Rei and Ki. Rei meaning universal spirit, higher power, or God. And Ki refers to the energy that flows through all living things. Together, Reiki means life force energy that is divinely guided by an intelligent source. 

When this energy is high you feel strong and confident, more relaxed and centered, are less likely to become sick, and are more easily able to deal with the stressors of daily life. When this energy is low, you feel more tired, less resistant to illness, and are less able to handle stress.

What can Reiki do for you?

Reiki can help you to experience a state of deep relaxation, can help release mental or emotional blocks, and can clear energy within the body that may be causing physical discomfort or pain. Reiki is very beneficial as a way to help the body get into a relaxed state know as "rest and digest" from which the body can heal and come back into balance. Reiki can balance your chakras and has also been known to open up intuitive and creative abilities, and can help to remove physical and or emotional barriers that rob you of your peace and joy.

While many people do experience physical healing while receiving Reiki, physical healing results cannot be guaranteed. And it is recommended that Reiki be used in tandem with professional medical or psychological care if needed. Reiki works very well in conjunction with all traditional medicine.

What is a session like?

Reiki sessions can be conducted in person or virtually. Reiki is typically transmitted through the hands of the Reiki Practitioner and into the recipient's auric field and energetic body. The hands are either placed lightly on the body or are held just above, in various hand positions around the head, shoulders, abdomen, and feet. Whether the session is preformed hands on or hands off is determined by the comfort level of recipient and practitioner.

Receiving a Reiki session can feel like a warm glowing radiance that flows through the body. Some people experience warmth or coolness or tingling, some people may not notice any sensations, and some even fall asleep! Regardless of felt sensations the energy is working.

It's a very relaxing and meditative experience. Sessions help to release negative feelings or thoughts, leaving the recipient feeling more positive, lighthearted, and with general feelings of well being. You may experience mind set shifts and aha moments as your system recalibrates. These releases and aha moments can continue for several hours or even days after receiving a session.
